Indian Child Welfare Act and Family First Prevention Services Act

The Alliance for Children’s Rights, joined by the California Tribal Families Coalition and the California Department of Social Services, hosted a webinar discussing the intersection of the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) and the Family First Prevention Services Act (FFPSA).

The webinar provided an overview of the FFPSA and focused on parts I and IV – prevention services focused on providing front end services to families that are candidates for foster care and reducing the amount of youth in congregate care. Panelists also discussed California’s implementation efforts and presented comprehensive considerations for tribal leaders and stakeholders to think about when implementing FFPSA.
