Policy

Policy

To accomplish our mission of “promoting and protecting the health safety and welfare of tribal children and families”, the work of California Tribal Families Coalition is organized in three primary areas: Legal, Policy and Training. Within the policy area, resources are focused on (1) advocating for improved, consistent policies within federal, state and county child welfare agencies; (2) developing policies and programs in partnership with tribes to build capacity for the tribes to administer their own child welfare systems; and (3) engaging in the California legislative process by sponsoring key legislation and working with stakeholders in family and child welfare to ensure their proposals consider tribes and honor the Indian Child Welfare Act and its state counterpart.

CALTRIBAL FAMILIES

To protect the health, safety and welfare of tribal children and families, which are inherent tribal governmental functions and are at the core of tribal sovereignty and tribal governance.
