This webinar is directly relevant to attorneys practicing juvenile dependency law, at the trial level or appellate stage, particularly attorneys that have or could have cases involving Indian children, parents, or tribes. The course will go over the Placement Preferences standard required by the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA), how this legal standard is met, and why it is critically important to ICWA compliance and the intention of the Act. The instructors have significant professional and academic experience with dependency practice, ICWA compliance, common state court mistakes (and how to avoid them) with ICWA and best practice tools. Attendees will be provided with a copy of the written materials before or during the training. The webinar will be one hour, including introductions and questions/answers, with no breaks. Up to one hour of attorney MCLE credit is pending approval with the State Bar of California for this training.
