CTFC’s Legal Team
To accomplish our mission of “promoting and protecting the health safety and welfare of tribal children and families”, the work of California Tribal Families Coalition is organized in three primary areas: Legal, Policy and Training. Within the legal strategy and advocacy area, resources are focused (1) protecting and defending the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA); (2) engaging in impact litigation, which involves the Coalition engaging in litigation to advance and secure broad rights for tribes, tribal children and families; and (3) our Legal Counsel for Tribes Project (LC4T) that provides tribes legal representation in state court ICWA cases, with a goal of being there with Every tribe, Every child, Every case.
